Rant 2: oh dear, it's another Ubuntu x.10 release

I had similar issues when I tried Fedora 11 earlier this year. And that
was with an NVidia card. Eventually moved back to my good old trusted
Debian and all issues went away. 

I think one needs to make a clear distinction what a box is used for: if
it's a production server or desktop or laptop, then steer clear of the
cutting edge stuff.
