I rather think about public present of CamLUG in Cambridge. How you
mentioned there are many other excellent technical related group in the
area and I don't see any point to compete with them but rather
cooperate. CamLUG can give Linux knowledge, show that things can be make in
different way. On the other hand learn what normal people want from
computers.

If I have had very limited space to describe my idea I would like to
say: 
CamLUG - when technology and science meets Linux
